Morning - Arrival to school21 September 2020 (by J Jamison (kjamison)) |
We are focusing at the moment on keeping our school open and keeping everyone within our school community safe.
One of the most difficult times of the new school day was when we opened the school gates at 8.45am each morning. Each morning we were met with a large number of pupils standing together in a group, all wishing to enter through the school gates at the same time in a large rush.
Our newly elected School Council met last Thursday for their first meeting and pupils’ arrival to school was one of the items on the agenda. The School Council decided for more stencils to be placed outside the gate as a reminder and guide for pupils and parents. The School Council also decided to order a sign for the school gates to remind pupils and parents to socially distance. At the weekend I ordered a queue barrier system. Until our order arrives, Smyth’s EUROSPAR in John Street, have very kindly lent us some of their barrier system to use.
This was a great success this morning and when the gates opened at 8.45am pupils came into school in a calm and organised manner which was very pleasing to see.
