Safer Internet Day 20218 February 2021 (by Class Teacher (teacher)) |
Safer Internet Day is an annual event which takes place globally to help children and young people learn to use the internet responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. This year it is being celebrated on 9th February with the theme “An Internet we trust: Exploring reliability in the online world”. Safer Internet Day 2021 celebrates the amazing range of information and opportunities online, and its potential to inform, connect and inspire us, whilst also looking at how young people can separate fact from fiction.
Our core value for February is Trust. It is important that children and young people develop the skills they need to spot inaccurated content, which can sometimes be a complex task. This week in school we will be carrying out a range of different activities with pupils to help them understand who and what to trust on the Internet as part of Internet Safety week in our school.
As a Rights Respecting school we are linking this to Article 13 from the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Article 13 states ‘I have the right to find out and share information’.
Throughout the week your child’s teacher will be sharing activities to promote internet safety via Seesaw.
