Today Year One celebrated European Languages Day 2021. Firstly we thought about where we live and the language we speak.
Next we thought about how our world has lots and lots of different countries and many different languages. The children were able to name some languages eg Polish, French and German.
For European Languages Day we thought about the country of Spain and the Spanish Language. We looked at pictures of Spanish houses and the beautiful beaches. We now know the climate in Spain is very different to our climate.
We watched a video that translated the story of “The Hungry Caterpillar” from English to Spanish. Then we coloured a Spanish flag and tasted some Spanish food - tortilla chips. Year One really enjoyed participating in European Languages Day 2021.
