Mr McLean’s Class- Play Based Learning!4 March 2022 (by Class Teacher (teacher)) |
What a morning Year 2 had during our Play Based Learning. It’s evident that they’re the real “Creative Geniuses”. I have to say, Year 2 made me extremely proud today, as they exceeded their learning potential.
They worked through each station at a pace suited their individual needs. At the Numeracy area some of the children counted, formed and experienced numbers from 1-102 (AMAZING). In woodland Tuff spot, the children held puppet shows, made zip lines, linked their learning to prior experiences in the forest and discussed the appearance of the different animals. In the creative area the children used the natural resources to make Gruffalo crumble, owl ice cream and scrambled snake. The language, imagination and thinking skills behind this was exceptional. At the opened music station the children used the junk resources to make musical instruments that had more than one purpose, from guitars to maracas. They even formed their own band, fantastic work! In the literacy area, the children looked through the sensory items to find the hidden letters for their word building. Silly, Mr McLean had forgotten to put both letter baskets in. He was reminded by a few children that they need ‘V’s’ to finish their words. All in all, it was a fantastic Play session. Keep up the outstanding work Year 2!!
A messy Classroom means only one thing, LOTS of fun learning has taken place.
