BIG Soup Share Eco-Schools event was held on Friday 27th September in our school dining hall.
The leeks were harvested on Thursday 26th September by the Eco-Schools Committee and chopped by members of staff, Mrs Carson, Miss Hemphill, our principal, Mrs Jamison and parents of the Eco-Schools Committee, Mrs Borthwick and Mrs Huddleston, along with the help of Mrs Hiscock and our buildings supervisor, Mr Johnston. Thank-you to everyone who has helped with the harvesting of produce within our school garden.
A huge thanks to Collette and her kitchen staff team, who were extremely busy cooking the leeks in the morning to have our soup ready to serve at break-time!
Leek and vegetable soup along with crusty bread, was served to invited parents of the Eco-Schools Committee 2018-2019 and to pupils in Year 4 –Year 7 in the school dining hall this morning.
Rhubarb grown in our school garden was also made into delicious rhubarb crumble by our school principal, Mrs Jamison. This yummy dessert was enjoyed by the Eco-Committee and parents, and members of the teaching and non-teaching staff. Thank-you Mrs Jamison for this surprise treat today!
Many thanks to our Principal, staff and non-teaching staff, parents and pupils for making this a successful BIG Soup Share, whole-school community, Eco- Schools event, at Ballymoney Model CIPS.
