Ballymoney Model Integrated Primary School

Dear Parent 

Last week was a tough week for everyone, parents, staff and pupils, due to this exceptional situation that we are all in.  

We are all especially worried about our school family, our own families and our community. Like yourselves we in school are all desperate for more information. Last week principals all around the country waited for emails to keep staff and parents updated but often we heard the latest information on the tv, radio and social media rather than through correspondence from the Department of Education and the Education Authority. This made the whole situation much more complicated and difficult for us in school and you are parents. 

School has now closed for pupils. I will send messages later regarding the key worker provision that the Department of Education has asked us to offer from Monday and the pupil learning packs that have been prepared. The Education Authority initially asked us to prepare packs for four weeks, but our dedicated staff have prepared packs for approximately eight weeks. We remain positive and hopeful that school will open again before the end of the school year which would be wonderful particularly for our year 7 pupils. 

In the midst of everything happening last week myself and the staff were extremely touched by all the kind and thoughtful offers of help with the preparation of pupil packs and all the lovely, appreciative and supportive comments from parents. Over the last few days within school sad tears were shed due to anxiety and the reality of the situation that we are all in but also happy tears from the kindness, appreciation and thoughtfulness of our parents to us. A big thank you from all of us!
