Our new music stand banners have just arrived in the post.  Mrs Arlow worked very hard on this project to ensure every aspect of our school logo looked its best on the banner.

Well done to the Year 4 pupils who received prizes at the Coleraine Music Festival. The group included in the link below achieved two highly commended, joint third and second place in their Year 4 class. Already they are saying they can’t wait to attend the Festival again next year. Well done to all!

A huge congratulations to the Year 4 pupils who gave fantastic performances at the Coleraine Music Festival last week. This was the first time these pupils performed at the festival. They all did our school proud!

These three pupils did the school proud as they achieved a third place, second place and highly commended places in the Year 5 classes at the Coleraine Music Festival. The girls sang “I’d like to teach the world to sing” and the boy solo was “Michael Finnegan”

Well done to all three of these pupils!

Festival

We are so sorry to be losing this group of talented singers at the end of this year. Between them they achieved three third places, joint second place and two first places. These pupils really enjoy their singing. They enjoyed hearing many other soloists from lots of other schools and they were delighted with their own achievement

Year Six pupils were certainly hitting the high notes!

They achieved first, second, third and highly commended in their respective boy and girl solo classes.

These children enjoyed their performances and took on board any advice the adjudicator gave for future performances. A great achievement for all.

A huge congratulations to all pupils who participated so successfully in the Coleraine Music Festival.

It was just fantastic to have so many pupils take part.

Very well done to our woodwind soloists who performed so well at the Coleraine Music Festival. They really did entertain the audience present. All instrumentalists played to a very high stand and achieved three highly commended, third and joint second place In their class. Congratulations to all.  A special award was made for the most memorable of the Coleraine Music Festival. The adjudicator said he was very impressed by the performance as it was a highly communicative and well executed performance. Special congratulations on receiving this special prize.
This year all vocal soloists formed a choir to perform at the Music Festival. We welcomed the Music Festival Adjudicator and a member of the Festival committee to our school to listen to our choir. The adjudicator commented very positively about the singing. The choir sang two hymns. The adjudicator presented the choir with a cup. Needless to say, the members of the choir were delighted!

Last week, a number of pupils from Year 1 to Year 7 performed on stage at Coleraine Festival in the Speech and Drama section. We are so proud of them all!

This year all vocal soloists formed a choir to perform at the Music Festival. Watch the video of our fantastic school choir singing the two chosen hymns we preformed. Congratulations to all who took part, you all sang beautifully. The adjudacator presented our choir with a cup, we were over the moon.

Football - National Finals

On Thursday 19th May the football team travelled to Lurgan Town Arena to compete in the NIFA National Primary Schools Final. The team started off strong in the group stage winning two out of their three matches (3-1, 3-0, 0-1). We knew the competition was going to get harder moving in the Quarter Final, however, with fantastic communication and teamwork we won 2-0. Unfortunately, our journey came to an end in Semi Final! All players should be extremely proud of their performance and what a fantastic football year it has been for our team.

Please have a look at our highlights video of our day in Lurgan!

Lifeguard Visitors
Thank you to the RNLI lifeguards who visited Year 4 today to tell us all about water safety. The lifeguards talked about the risks and dangers of water and how to react when caught in a rip current. They also showed us the flags which are used on our beaches and what they mean. This was a fantastic experience for all pupils and so valuable especially as we move towards the summer months.

Mrs Boreland, Mrs Hamill and Mrs McGinley’s classes really enjoyed their visit from the lifeguards today.

Everyone spoke out very well- great work year 5!

Technology  Challenges

Year 5 Technology Challenge

This morning all of year 5 worked together in teams for this years technology challenge. In groups the children had to make a parachute that would take the longest length of time to drop to the floor. They started by discussing how they were going to make their parachute and what materials they could use. They then drew their labelled design on to their planning page before they started to make their parachute. When they had completed their design they tested their parachutes by timing them. All the children worked very well together.
